Jimmy Ryan coming home Greetings from South Carolina! My Dad Jim Ryan(R.I.P. 16JAN00) played with Clann Eireann many moons ago. I currently play pipes with Charleston Police Pipes & Drums Grade IV and bass drum with the Grade II band. I'll be in Bay Ridge Mon-Fri 2-6APR and would love to come out to a practice. Some Band History Good Day, I am Neill Kennedy, and my father, Robert Kennedy, was a piper with Clann Eireann for several decades. I think he was one of the original members, along with his good friend, Christie Coughlin. We recently came across a photograph of the band that was taken September 25, 1937. I would like to send you a copy of the photo, if you would be kind enough to send an address along. I am not yet a piper, though have pondered the idea as a tribute to my father. Remebering The Old Days Dear Band, I played with the Clann Eireann back in the Late 60's-Early 70s. I was taught by Chis Coughlin and knew the Coughlin family well. Played with Danny Harrold, Pat Farrell, Joe Pulverinti, Eddie Daul, Tommy Predergast, Pat and Pete heaney, Tim & Frank Keaney, Tim Mattieson,his father & son and other members I apoligize I don.t rememer their names. Sorry to hear of the passing of members and my condelences to all. It was a special time in my life with the band until I left for competitive piping. Now at 61 in Sarasota FL, I still remember all and watch the Youtube with the band. It looks like Chris Coughlin Jr is still playing. Is Gerard and Pat Coughlin still playing? Former Member I played with the band while in the Coast Guard, stationed at Governor's Island. I learned from Chris Coughlin and became close with him and his wife Mae. Gerard was with FDNY and a drummer, and Chris Jr. was also a drummer. I was wondering if you could tell me from wear you order the bands kilts and Fly Shawl. Frank Kearney was making the uniforms for the band at the time I played. I still have my original Jabo, which we wore back then. I have not played with another band. I tried, but there was not a better group than this group. I still have all of my music, with the exception of "Faith of Our Fathers." I was wondering if you could send me a copy of this tune. I know the first Stanza, but cannot remember the second. The Clann Eireann Pipe Band was one of the best experiences of my life, and will forever, remember all of my time.
